Gift Shopping For The Children

Sissy, Little Man and I went shopping for Christmas presents this evening. Curly stayed home with Daddy and took a much needed nap. Much needed for both of them.

My favorite places to shop are antique stores and second hand stores that generally have lots of antiques. This holds true especially when it comes to getting toys for the children. Old time toys are more durable and will hold sentimental value. I still have a wooden rocking chair and book case from when I was a child. I will be able to hand them down to my children and grandchildren. You can’t say that about the modern toys they come out with. I think they are all made to break and be replaced.

This year I hit the jackpot! I found the perfect gifts for both Little Man and Curly. It was ok for Little Man to be with us because he doesn’t know that his gift is supposed to be a surprise. I didn’t take enough money with me to get both so I purchased just his. I knew that it wouldn’t be there later. On the way home I knew that I had gotten the perfect thing. He didn’t stop playing with it until he fell asleep and then he still had a good hold on it.

I’m not going to tell you what it is, just that I had wanted to get about the same thing for Curly when she was as small. The one that I saw at that time was much more expensive and wasn’t available at gift time.

Curly’s gift is half hidden, at the shop, and I don’t expect that it will be sold before I can get back with some money to get it. Remember the other day when I had asked her what she wanted. “Something for baby dolls” was her answer and that is what I have found for her. She is going to love what she is getting.

Sissy is much harder to surprise. I will have to do more searching for her gift.
