A Surprise For Curly

Curly is going to be having her third birthday in about a month. As a special surprise, I am going to be making her a doll. Along with the doll, there will be stuffed animals, doll clothes and a patchwork doll quilt. All of this will hopefully be done by her birthday. If not, there is always Christmas.

I want her to know how special these toys are, and how much love and work went into them, so she will be watching me make them. Last night, I had her help open the fabric that I chose and hand me the pattern to cut out. Before bed, she sat on my lap and watched me hand stitch part of a seam. She thought that it was all very exciting. She had no idea what was going on, just that mommy was making a surprise for her.

Here is the finished lamb. I had it setting out so that she could see it this morning. She was so surprised. Her face lit up and she wanted to show everyone her new toy.

She will have to wait until her birthday to play with her new things. As I make them, they will sit on top of the piano in the living room for everyone to look at. Curly thinks this is such a wonderful idea. She especially likes that she doesn’t have to share her surprise with her brother.
