New Books

I have a strong passion for books but over the years I have had to cut down on my consumption because it was getting out of hand. So, in recent years I have been indulging in my obsession by purchasing books for other people as often as I can. This past Christmas was no exception.

My absolute favorite book store is Ollie's. It's not even a bookstore but it has a large section of books in every PG genera that you can think of. While doing some late season shopping, for everyone else, I gave into the temptation and purchased some things for myself.

New Books ~ Salad Days ~ Magic Foods ~ Diet Doodle Diary

We'll file these under the "self help" category and add them to my large collection of cookbooks. Lol.

The first is called Salad Days by Sara Lewis and it is a collection of "80 recipes for fresh and natural salads". I happen to love salads but hate having to make them. I'm hoping this book inspires me to be more creative with my salads and choice of dressings.

The second book is called Magic Foods for Better Blood Sugar by Robert Barnett and Christine Pelkman. The bulk of this book is a glossary of sorts that lists common foods and their glycemic load. There are also great recipes with beautiful illustrations.

The third book is Diet Doodle Diary by Julie Mackey and is a fun twist on a food and exercise journal. It's really for people wanting to loose weight but I'm hoping it will be just as helpful for my efforts in eating healthier and adding more physical activity to my schedule. Wish me luck!!

Until next time,
May all your gardening adventures be a blessing!
