Spring Is Here

Well, it is official. Spring officially arrived last Wednesday, March 21st. Of course you would never have known that it was spring with all the snow still sticking around from the previous Friday's storm.

You may have noticed that some fields have been plowed and there are some tulips poking up out of the soil. It looks rather nice. The days are starting to get warmer and gardeners all over have been working extra hard to hold back.

Looking at the forecast, it seems that we are in for some wet weather. I had wanted to start planting but I am glad that I held off. Another thing to consider is the soil temperature. It needs to be at least 32 degrees to plant the cold season vegetables that I want (lettuce, onions, spinach and such). Between the wet garden and the cold temp, I'll have to wait a few more days or so before planting.

Happy Gardening,
Mother Dean
